When we started building CEDAR, we did what we always do: we sat down with operators and quality leads and asked them how they currently capture data to quantify “quality.”

What we heard was almost universal. Quality data lives in one world. Operational data lives in another. The two only meet when something goes wrong (a batch is rejected, a customer complains, or a regulator asks a question). By that point, the conversation is forensic. It’s not improvement work. It’s damage control.

CEDAR exists to change that. The starting point was kiln-management in lumber manufacturing, because that’s where we saw the most pain: kiln operators running drying schedules on intuition, quality teams running moisture analysis on a delay, and nobody seeing the connection until things went out of spec.

So, we built what those teams actually needed: real-time KPIs that anyone on the floor can read: Hot Checks, Packs Checked, Matched Percentage, Variance, and Average Moisture Content and Standard Deviation on a Kiln Map showing where wet and over-dried lumber were coming from. CEDAR provides trend charts that show 13 weeks of drying performance at a glance, control charts with UCL and LCL bands configurable per kiln and species, and a test pack schedule that doesn’t live in a spreadsheet.

CEDAR is in beta now, with selected partners in the forest products sector, but the platform is built to extend into a multitude of manufacturing verticals — solar cell process windows, medical device cure profiles, and process-driven manufacturing across our customer base.
