Every software company says they built their product with customers. Most of them are telling some version of the truth. Where the difference shows up is in the small decisions — the choices that only matter to someone who has actually had to run a shift.
I spent most of my career working on the shop floor of high-volume industrial manufacturing operations. I’ve worked in manufacturing in nearly 20 countries across three continents — consulting, strategizing, leading. The work has been varied. The pain has been remarkably consistent.
Every operation, regardless of industry, fights the same battle: getting good data to the right people, fast enough that they can do something about it. The plants that are setup to win this battle don’t need “adequate” software…or “good” spreadsheets. They need excellent software that matches how a plant actually runs, captures precise data in a simple way, and generates information that is immediately available, visually intuitive, and highly actionable.
That’s the lens we used when we built MADERA. When an operator on a 12-hour shift has to enter a downtime reason, can they do it in three taps? When a supervisor at 6 AM wants to see what happened on third shift, is it on her phone before her first coffee? When a corporate VP needs to compare four facilities, is it a click away, or is it a weeks-long effort?
These questions aren’t just interesting to know…they highlight our understanding of real-world need, and define our operational philosophy. We know because we’ve been the person standing at the touch panel, the supervisor at the morning huddle, the VP staring at four different reporting systems that don’t agree on the basics.
We hire that way too. Jeremiah Lackey, our Customer Experience Manager, spent 25 years in manufacturing operations, including business unit turnarounds in automotive and flooring. Clayton Robbins, our Principal Solutions Engineer, spent 20 years in maintenance, operations, and automation leadership, and is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional. When you call us, you’re talking to people who have done your job.
That’s not a tagline. That’s MADERA.
